The Kern County Young Farmers and Ranchers group is gearing up for an exciting day of friendly competition and community engagement at our 5th Annual Clay Shoot. Scheduled for Saturday, March 22, 2025, this fun-filled event will take place at the popular 5 Dogs Range, offering participants a chance to enjoy some outdoor sporting activities while supporting a great cause. This fundraiser supports YF&R events and allows us to contribute thousands of dollars annually toward student agriculture scholarships.

Our annual clay shoot is the perfect occasion for participants to sharpen their shooting skills and enjoy the great outdoors. Whether you’re an experienced shooter or a novice, this event welcomes all, offering both a rewarding challenge and an opportunity to improve.

The day will begin with check-in and a light “grab-and-go style” breakfast with coffee. The clay shoot will then kick off, and once all shooters have completed the course, a catered lunch will be served. Afterward, we’ll move on to the awards ceremony and conclude with the raffle items — you do have to be present to win. Last year, we had over 16 raffle baskets, along with a gun raffle. Even if you can’t participate, we welcome and appreciate any raffle basket donations.

Who Can Participate?

The Clay Shoot is open to participants aged 18 and older. There are several different ways to get involved depending on your preference, budget, and group size. If you’re a solo shooter, you can sign up as an individual for just $125. For those who want to bring friends, family and/or coworkers to join the competition, a team of four can register for $500.

One of the highlights of the event is the unique opportunity for participants to bring their own utility terrain vehicles (UTV’s) or side-by-side vehicles (SxS). These can be used to move between stations at ease. Don’t have one? No worries — the course is fully walkable!

Sponsorship Opportunities

The event also offers sponsorship opportunities for businesses or individuals looking to support the YF&R group and get their name out there in the community. Station sponsors can pay $350 to sponsor one of the shooting stations, which includes two lunch tickets.

Additionally, there are meal/drink sponsorships available for $300. These sponsorships are limited to just six, offering a great way to support the event while making sure participants have the fuel and hydration they need.

How to Register

If you’d like to participate and/or sponsor, register at https://kernyfr.square.site. Please note that registration will close on Wednesday, March 20, 2025, so be sure to sign up early.
