Preliminary numbers are in and Kern County’s unemployment rate is down nearly 2% in April of 2019. The numbers show Kern’s unemployment rate sits at an estimated 8.4%; in March the unemployment  rate stood at 10%.

According to data released from the California Employment Development Department Farm Jobs lead the way with an increase of 1,600 new positions from the month prior. Other sectors also contributed with an increase in construction, business and professional services. Overall job increases in Kern totaled 7,400.
